THE PRACTICE NURSE

Please make an appointment with the Nurse for a health check, blood pressure check, blood tests, dressings and other nursing procedures.

TEST RESULTS

Your test results will be on your computer records. Most results will take about 7 days but some may be longer. You can telephone for your results if they were ordered by the Surgery. Please phone 0113 264 5455 between 11am–3pm . Please do not ring outside these times as there is not always a member of staff available to give you the results.

DATA PROTECTION 1988
All patients’ records on file or on the computer are confidential. In order to maintain this confidentiality test results will only be given to the patients themselves or parents of minors if satisfactory identification has been obtained.

FORMS

If you want the Doctor to fill in a form for you, please leave the form with the Receptionist and she will tell you when it will be available for collection. Please note that there will be a charge and again the Receptionist will advise you of this. Please do not bring forms with you for the Doctor to sign during consultations.

MINOR SURGERY

We perform some minor surgery operations including the treatment of warts, verrucas and joint injections. Your Doctor will advise you if your condition is suitable for treatment at the Surgery and, if it is, a special appointment will be arranged.

MATERNITY

Antenatal care is carried out at special clinics by our midwife. She would like to see you early in your pregnancy so please ask a Receptionist to make an appointment at the clinic once a Doctor has confirmed your pregnancy.

WELL BABY CLINIC

CERVICAL SMEAR TESTS

All female patients between 25 and 64 years of age are advised to have regular smear tests. This is an important screening test to look for abnormal cells , which if left untreated, might go on to become cancer cells A call and recall system is operated to remind you when your test is due. Please make an appointment with our nurse.

CONTRACEPTION

Contraceptive advice is available from all of the Doctors. Dr Lewis, Dr Wilkinson and the Practice Nurses are all Family planning trained. Dr Wilkinson is able to fit coils and Implanon.

YOUNG PERSONS HEALTH

Our Surgery is currently part of the "Offering Excellence Programme" which has involved changing how we deal with young people in the Practice. We offer an approachable and confidential service to all young people and can give advice on contraception and other health issues.

If you are aged 75 or over you should be seen every year by a member of the practice team. You will be offered an appointment to come to the Surgery or, if you are housebound, a home visit can be arranged.
